Faith and Finance: What Pastor Poju Oyemade Taught Us About Divine Provision

There are conversations that entertain. There are conversations that inform. And then there are conversations that reach into something deeper — the kind that follow you home, sit with you over the weekend, and show up uninvited on a Monday morning when you are staring at a spreadsheet wondering if any of this is going to work.

The May 2026 AiMP Monthly Series was that kind of conversation.

Pastor Poju Oyemade, Senior Pastor and Founder of The Covenant Nation and convener of The Platform Nigeria, joined the AiMP community for a session titled Faith and Finance: Divine Providence For God Given Visions. And he dismantled one of the most persistent myths that marketplace believers carry — that faith and finances belong in separate rooms.

The Myth We All Believed

Most of us were raised, consciously or not, to keep our faith and our finances apart. Faith was for Sunday. Finances were for Monday. Prayer was for spiritual matters. Business strategy was for practical ones. And somewhere in the middle of that separation, a quiet anxiety took up residence — the feeling that God was generally supportive of our vision but not specifically involved in its funding.

Pastor Poju walked straight into that anxiety and named it.

God is not on the sidelines of your financial story. He is the author of your capacity to generate wealth. The business, the career, the vision, the income — He is in all of it.

Faith is the Currency

Not connections. Not capital. Not a perfect business plan. Faith.

That does not mean irresponsibility or the abandonment of good planning. It means that in the economy of God, the currency that unlocks provision is not what you have in your account — it is what you carry in your conviction.

And then came the line that changed the conversation entirely.

God does not fund projects. He funds people.

Before the provision moves, the person must move. Obedience almost always precedes provision. Not because God is withholding, but because divine provision is designed to follow divine assignment — and assignment requires a person who has already said yes.

The Gap Is Not a No

Perhaps the most practically useful thing Pastor Poju addressed was the gap — that painful distance between the clarity of the vision and the current reality of the resources.

Most people interpret the gap as a sign that they heard wrong. That the vision was their own ambition dressed up in spiritual language. That God would have provided by now if He really intended it.

Pastor Poju reframed the gap entirely.

The gap is not a no. The gap is an invitation. An invitation to trust at a level deeper than circumstances. An invitation to keep building, keep showing up, keep saying yes — not because the provision has arrived but because the God who gave the vision has already accounted for everything it needs.

What We Are Taking Away

Every person who attended the May session left with something specific to carry. But across the conversations that followed, a few themes emerged consistently:

The separation between faith and finances is a lie we were handed, and we have the authority to reject it. The vision that feels too big for your resources is probably exactly the right size — for God. Obedience is not just a spiritual act. In the economy of God, it is a financial strategy. And the community you surround yourself with matters — because you need people who will remind you of what God said when the gap feels too wide.
